Open Access Guidelines
Guidelines for Open Access to Publications at Malmö University Press
Malmö University Press is a publishing house committed to making its publications as accessible and open as possible. The press publishes journals, monographs, anthologies, and doctoral theses.
Journals, monographs, and anthologies must always be licensed with a Creative Commons licence. Editorial boards are free to choose the type of licence for their publications, but the publisher recommends the CC-BY licence, which safeguards the author’s right to be acknowledged while remaining the most open and permissive option. For more information about the different types of CC licences, see the Creative Commons website.
In cases where a book or anthology is reviewed through Kriterium, the work is licensed in accordance with Kriterium’s guidelines.
The publisher makes no copyright claims on published works; copyright always remains with the creator. It is always the creator who licenses their material.
Through licensing, the material becomes free to read, download, copy, and distribute. Depending on the chosen licence, the material may also be freely adapted and/or used for commercial purposes. The creator’s right to be named must always be respected.
Doctoral theses are not required to be licensed under Creative Commons, although it is encouraged. In accordance with the university’s open access policy, theses are uploaded in full text to the university’s repository. Monographs are uploaded in their entirety, and for compilation theses, the cover essay is uploaded along with those articles for which this is permitted under copyright.
